"an electric trolling motor is a great way to get around on the lake or a mellow estuary. I've got a 35# thrust 12 volt and a 71# 24 volt rip tide. Both motors are minn kota's. The 71 has a longer shaft than the 35 but both do the job with…"

"I used an old MinnKota 35 lb. thrust trolling motor on my 14' Tatman in slow sections of rivers for a short period of time.  The shaft was plenty long enough and it moved the boat along okay, but everything else about it was painful. …"

"Thanks Mike. It is easily removable. Nice to have as three adults can fish a lake comfortably (or a family of four as we have), easy to remove if you want to pack extra gear for an overnight float."

"I really like the rear seat in your boat. I have not put one in mine cause I like to keep it open for hauling gear back there if I have to. But it looks like you could make this type of seat removable. Mike"

"There is a Deschutes River Guide book available. It's very detailed. I'm pretty sure the publisher is Amato. A good first over niter float is from Warm Springs to Trout Creek on the Deschutes."

River Maps

We are river novices and are trying to learn the ropes on local Portland rivers, Sandy/Clack.Question: We want to plan a multi day trip down a NW river in a year or so. Does anyone know of a place to get detailed river maps that would list such things as launch sites, rapids, places to camp along the way, fishing, best times of the year to float, etc...? We want a relatively calm river (no…See More

Greetings, Brian. Glad to see that you are engaged with this group and that you are enjoying the boat. Seeing you and your son on the oars takes me back many years to my gilrs and their love for the boats, rivers and river running. They never got into the fishing, but ther sure became excellent
oars(wo)men. Enjoy, and be very safe... .
