I used to see similar boats on the upper Teton between Victor and Driggs, ID. The guides from the Teton Valley Lodge used to use them there. Anyone know if they still do? They would use a couple poles pushed down into the slit to "anchor"…

Chris looks great! Teach those boys how to row, you will have many years of guide service. I made my oars 8' 6" and they work well with my RR.

I drove the canyon from Alpine to Jackson last Saturday. I stopped and watched the rafts and kayaks run Big Kahuna and Lunch Counter and don't see any problem with taking a drift boat through at current water flows. Kahuna can be skirted river…

Scott, I should try prefiberglassing the panels on my second boat. Glassing a flat piece of plywood has to be easier that glassing a curved hull! Any concern about epoxy's 24 hour "chemical bond" window? Or do you try to cut out the…

I have posted a few. My wood working skill pale in comparison to some of what you see on these pages, so I only post small, blurry shots! Go to http://www.woodenboatpeople.com/profile/ChrisPatterson and scroll to the bottom. Post some pictures and…

Chris Patterson replied to Steven Miller's discussion 'Stitch and Glue questions'
Yeah, I think that is somewhat accurate. I have only ever done stitch and glue but my feeling is that the frames themselves give a framed boat a lot of their rigidity. I built four little 8 ft rowboats (one for each child) as practice boats before…

Chris Patterson replied to Steven Miller's discussion 'Stitch and Glue questions'
I used plastic electrical wire ties with the tie and tag end to the outside. Once the inner fillet was glassed and cured I flipped the boat and cut the plastic ties flush with the plywood. That leaves a small amount of plastic inside the fillet. I…
