I have never done the rounded chine routine. I used to do screws every two inches now I do them every three. For comparison I am doing a UHMW shoe install on an older Tatman boat, it has screws every four inches on the bottom and every eight inches…

Steve, That is exaclty what we did on boat #1. Turned out great. No leaks at all. It just seemed like a ton of screws. E. Landis

E. Landis , I used the sugestions from the Don Hill plans also, thinking at the time I would use UHMW plastic,... before I came upon this site. I used 1 to 1 1/4" #8 screws ss, pre drilled and counter sunk....started 2 " in from the side…

Screw pattern- for epoxy bottom with rounded/taped edges

I am wondering what you guys are doing for your screw pattern on boats with epoxy bottoms/rounded/taped edges. On the last boat we used the pattern from the Don Hill plans then proceeded to round the edges and tape. In looking at photos of other bottom intalls and it appears they used a lot less screw. I would like to put as few holes as possible in the plywood while still getting a good seal.E. LandisSee More

David, Thanks. Great set of plans. We ended up doing quite a few things different. We did a fiberglass bottom. The interior of the boat was mostly the brain child of Dan my boat building partner. Both seats that you see in the photo are actually…

She's a keeper. Nice work. As has been mentioned, I am also considering building one of these.

Very nice boat. Interesting how you hung the front seat. That is the right amount of scarfs for an 18' boat, it takes 2 as well for a 16 footer if all you can get is 8 foot ply. I would like to use this picture on the web site on our Gallery…

Right now my boat building partner is part way through another 18ft build. I am helping him out with that a little. Then we are going to start on a 16ft boat. Hope that one is done for early spring fishing next year. After that I don't know. I…
