Stewart Cross said… Thank you Jay, it was a real pleasure to build and I got to learn a lot from a good friend and found out what an amazing resource this website is. We'll get the shine knocked off the boat this spring and summer and see what next winter brings.

Rob Perkin said… Thanks for the Welcome Jay. The oars are 10' in length, I believe they are Spruce but I'm not positive. Very keen eye regarding the river, that is the Nestucca. Picture was taken a month ago, it's a picture of my friends Tatman kit we built over 15 years ago.
Kevin Kay said… Hi Jay, you are correct that is the Posse Grounds boat launch. I pretty much fish between there and Anderson. Fishing has been pretty good lately. I bought my boat about 5 years ago in Southern Oregon. The data plate says it was built in 1970. I am not sure of the builder. I added the rear seat (Tatman), the rear knee brace (Boulder Boat Works), and a few other goodies but it is otherwise as it was built. Shortly I will post some more detailed pictures in the forum looking for information on the builder.
Adam "Dutch" Gottschling said… Jay,
Thanks for the comment. I didn't want to "over restore" the Rapid Robert. The outside had very old varnish on it. I scraped what was left of it off and put a very light sand on it. I wanted to keep the 60 years of patina in tacked. The nicks and scratches, old nail heads, and the storys never told are still there. I wanted to make the boat look like a 60 year old drift boat. Which she is.
Dutch.
