I'm interested in the color of your boat.  It really looks  good.  I'm working on a boat and I'm about at the point of painting it.  What brand of paint and color name is your boat?  The only paint color I…

Mark: After decades of building and finishing wooden drift boats, I have decided that the finish of least maintenance is to paint a boat inside and out-one color. I painted my Rapid Robert one color inside and out with Z Spars alkyd enamel medium…

Just a quick thought Mark - it's very difficult to take a painted boat back to natural wood. It's not impossible, but I tried this on my boat (painted when I bought it) and I ended up giving up and just painting it a new color. Natural…

Mark, you are at a good site for this info. In the last 12 plus months many have found this site after acquiring similar boats, old and in need of restoration. Rather than spelling out the process again I'm suggesting a quick search or two to…

Old wood drift boat

I found an old wood drift boat that was apparently built by the Rouge River boat shop. I'm thinking about looking at it any suggestions on what I should be keeping an eye out for? It appears to be fiberglassed and worn thru on one bottom section. How hard is it going to be to remove the old fiberglass. The whole boat is painted and I would like to remove the paint and at least keep the interior natural. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.MarkSee More

I really admire the work Marcelo does. The bamboo ferrule looks tricky. I haven't attempted that yet. I'll post a couple of pics of my rods. Want to go down to the river and take a couple of picture with the Rogue river in the background.…

Could I ask how much money the owner was asking for the rogue river boat and what where the issues? I'm building my dory primarily as an affordable way to get on the water with a dory. I am building mine with the cheapest materials. Den

I live in New Hampshire, Portsmouth and I'm starting to build a 17 foot Rogue River dory without the reverse sheer.

I'd love to talk to anyone on the phone - I'll call them back on my dime- to pick their brain.

Is the beautiful crimson colored boat a Rogue River Dory? I got my plans out of the new book

All call welcome - lonely Dory in the Northeast! Den 603-431-7957

We would be happy to help you out with a kit Mark. There are many different sizes and a few different shapes so you can customize the boat for what ever water you want to be on most often.j

Lots of help choosing here too, just ask questions.

I'm a little nuts - but man that was fun. We were very prepared and as careful as you can be on a very dangerous river.

Hey Mark. Was on the Rogue this fall - in October. Love it down there!! Building cane rods is on my "list of things to-do"... might have to ask you a few questions about that one of these days.
Welcome to the site - hope you enjoy all the boat "chatter"...

Hello Mark, I'm glad you found the site. Shoot me a question if you have any on the site. I envy you living right there next to the Rogue. GREAT water.
