I've done it, but not at that level.  If I was forced to do it at that level, there would be green paint on several rocks.  Great rowing, and great video.

Thanks guys! That was the only time it was easy after we started running the right side of the rapid. It stops being fun when the river gets much lower. More rocks than water. I couldn't imagine running an aluminum boat over there....

Great picture! If you don't look closely it appears as if the boatman is simply hanging on not shipping his oars.   Rick newman

I thought that rapid looked familiar. What was the river level?   Rick Newman

Whitehorse Salvage

Sorry for the long delay getting this out, but here goes. This boat was salvaged by Mark Angel with assistance from myself and two others. I regularly assist Mark on these salvages and learn a lot from him every time. We all are lucky to have Mark because no-one else out there that I am aware of is able, knowledgeable, and willing to recover these boats and bodies in the whitewater environment. As for this particular salvage, the only driftboat we were called out for on the Deschutes in 2008,… Continue

Hi Robb,
Would like to see that boat on the water at the Festival & Float on the 25th... we're organizing a little (1 hour) float/parade on the McKenzie - should be fun!!
Hope you sign up.

Robb,
Thanks for the reply. I have to admit your boat looks great. I have been getting ideas for my build this summer. However I still have to finish mine. I love the paint outside/varnish inside look. After working with the interlux paints and 'fighting' my boat for a smooth finish maybe it will be easier for the classic varnish look all around.
Needless to say Im impressed with your speed and efficiency on your project. Anyway, thanks for the advice and I may see you on the river one of these days.

Hey Robb,
I am finishing up my 16' Tatman next weekend and I am seriously looking at building a 17X52 this spring. I have been working with the interlux paints and I always liked the look of a painted outside/clear inside drift boat.
Did you varnish your frames prior to construction? Did you need to do any paint touch ups after construction? I noticed you were able to construct in three days (alone I might add). Aabout how mush time do you think it took to prepare/build all of the parts prior to construction?
Any and all advice would be appreciated!!

Hi Rob,
Your boat is beautiful. Would you please tell me the specs on the paint you used on the outside of the sides?

Good job on the boat Robb. The color is great and it looks super in the water. I'm glad your lovin' it. It sure beats rowing aluminum.

Hello Robb,
Sandy told me you called today. I was swamped but will try to call tonight.
I'm guessing your Wooldridge boat is an aluminum sled. Do you use that for rescue? I like to hear about it.

Don't tell anyone :) but I own a little sled made for the Willamette made in Eugene by Unique. It's sure a lot of fun.
