Sandy Pittendrigh replied to wade radina's discussion 'Epoxy (encapsulate) ribs, stem, and seats before or after construction?'
I won't try to answer all parts of your question. Instead I will point out epoxy on plywood will do more harm than good, if it isn't used in conjunction with fiberglass fabric of some kind. Without the fabric the epoxy will spit and crack.…

Sandy Pittendrigh replied to Jim Philpott's discussion 'Fairing Compounds?'
Micro-balloons and epoxy resin work well enough. I started using West System products (including their microballoons) in the early 1980s.  But most epoxies do not sand particularly well. They will clog up sand paper, even on your high-speed…

There is a how-to-do-it 'stitch and glue' design discussion at the following URI. But it doesn't have to be stitch and glue.  Dories are dories.  Some people like to use 3D design software. I prefer to work with…

Sandy Pittendrigh replied to Ben Kittell's discussion 'Decked vs. Open Boats'
Interesting photo. I'm new to decked boats. I rowed Larry Hedrick's all Plascore boat on the Green a month or so ago. Damn nice boat.  Light and responsive too--compared to another heavier decked and framed boat that was on that float…

Sandy Pittendrigh replied to Joseph Gill's discussion 'Colorado River Carnage'
One interesting question not yet asked is:  "What would that boat have looked like if it had been a stitch and glue boat?"   ....particularly so if the gunwales had been a solid glue-up lamination wrapped in glass.  My guess…

Sandy Pittendrigh replied to Sandy Pittendrigh's discussion 'Free MRBoats blueprints/plans'
The MRBoats boat plans been free for about a year now.  It took me that long to rewrite the software (the content management system) that publishes the website. And during that process there were too many bugs and broken links to charge for the…

I was searching through the archives, and came across this old post.  I have stopped by the MR site many times to get ideas/advice/knowledge, but the plans don't seem to be free anymore....?

Friends mean what in wordpress

I'm just curious what it means to "make so and so a friend" in wordpress.
For Facebook (which I don't belong to) I think it means "friends can see my
profile information, but the public cannot."

But in wordpress it seems like I can see the profile info for all members
anyway. So what does "friends" mean.......just tryna figger it all out.

Ok, I finally found it. Bruynzeel Regina is the name and it is unfortunately sapele with okume core. That makes it about $150 a sheet for 1/4in. OOFF!

I think we could save some money if the order was large enough. At the very least we could split some shipping.

I'll look up the link on the Austin plywood with Okume core.

Welcome Sandy,
I hope you share often and and enjoy. I'm looking forward to some great photographs.

BTW, World panel has a new plywood from Austin ( the company not the city) that is Okume core and mahogany face. Interesting. I haven't seen any yet but would like to have someone check it out.

Welcome! After all these years, I'm happy to have the opportunity to tell you how much I enjoyed your article on the roadkill streamer, which, if memory serves, appeared in Fly Rod & Reel. I re-read it on your web site and was taken again with your description of fishing to nightfall on the cutthroat creek.
