Right on. I think the epoxy+filler route is better anyway. In my experience the quick fair wasn't so quick. Also I was able to achieve a much smoother surface with the epoxy+filler mix than the quick fair. I think you made a wise choice!

I did not end up using quick fair. I used regular epoxy with fillers. Still working on the boat very slowly. It's only been 12 years to get to this point. Another several months (at the rate that I am going) won't matter much.

A coating of Cyanoacrylate (super glue) on the bondo will make the epoxy adhere if it's a small repair.

You will need to cut a 1:12 slope on each piece. I made a jig and was then able to pass them thru my table saw on edge to cut the slope. I then epoxied them as per AJ's instructions that he gave me in the post. Worked excellent.

For what its worth, I slimmed the rails on my current setup to 5/8" on the inner rail and 1/2" on the outer rail and bending was a piece of cake, and looks slimmer, just as tough.

I've used them all. and when continuous wood was not available, I have scarfed as AJ directs with excellent results.

I found white oak in boise at many hard wood stores. None in 16ft lengths but I got it in 9ft 4/4x8.
