Hi, For me the difference for me is the wind. High sides can be effected by the wind a little more than a low sides. On a few of our local rivers the end of the run has the river spreading out and slowing down. Couple that with a slight head wind…

High side ? Low Side?

What is the difference between a high sided boat and a Low sided boat. Maybe someone could post some examples? Also what is the difference/purpose. Can you modify a boats plan on your own as far as the shape is concerned. Thanks SteveSee More

Steven,
So sorry I missed your question back in August.
I believe Randy already answered your question - but my boat is a 17x52 lowside.
I am rowing slower moving Michigan waters, where on occasion the wind can be a PITA (Muskegon, Big Manistee Rivers) so the lowside was an obvious choice. I also have 2 fishing partners, so running a man up front and a man behind me is essential. When I go with just one person we have plenty of room for w/e we may need (maybe take the dog sometimes)
Let me know what you decide if you start a build.

Cheers,
Jason K.
